Russell E. Mead is a seasoned professional with over 25 years of experience working directly with individuals, children, and adults to help them identify and reach their full learning and personal potential. With a bachelor’s degree in education, Russell spent 18 years as an elementary educator, where he became known for his innovative approach to teaching and his ability to develop creative programs designed to enhance multiple learning modalities. His methods not only improved student engagement but also produced measurable gains in academic performance across his district, earning him recognition for excellence in teaching and program development.

In addition to his background in education, Russell brings extensive experience in assessment and individualized planning. He has worked with diverse populations to evaluate needs, design targeted interventions, and implement treatment plans that support both counseling and lifestyle goals. His ability to merge educational insight with behavioral understanding makes him a vital contributor to SECURE Counseling’s mission of providing compassionate, evidence-based care.

As the Program Development and Group Facilitator for SECURE Counseling, Russell plays a key role in designing and implementing innovative group and individual programs that foster growth, resilience, and self-discovery among clients. His decades of experience in human development, performance enhancement, and learning optimization serve as the foundation for his work in the mental health field today.

Originally from Florida, Russell has made Michigan his home for the past 25 years. He is married to his wife, originally from Indonesia, who he affectionately says “adds the spice to his life.” Together, they enjoy exploring Michigan’s natural beauty in a homemade camper van Russell designed and built himself. Outside of work, he can often be found working on sports vehicles, camping across the state, or maintaining an active lifestyle that reflects his belief in the importance of physical and mental wellness.
